I spend about 20 minutes today trying to open an Angry Orchard bottle. When I bought them, I didn’t pay attention to the fact that they are not twist-off tops. Somehow I have made it through college without ever buying a bottle opener, so I had to get creative when opening my hard cider. I tried using a strong metal cabinet door knob to pop the cap off. That didn’t work out so well. I also tried using a spoon, and that too failed. Finally, I got frustrated enough to take a pair of scissors to the top. I had to loosen about half of the cap before I could pop the cap off with the cabinet door knob. At one point, I tried to just pry it off with my nails. Not the world’s brightest idea. Hooray for not one but TWO broken nails!
I should probably clarify that 5 of those 20 minutes was spent with me trying to twist off the top. I kind of felt like an idiot after I read the part of the cap that said “Use a Bottle Opener.” And to think, I have a college degree…I’ll just come out and say it: Bless my heart.
