Sorry for not posting too much this week. It’s been a difficult time for my family after losing one of my grandfather’s. Jason and I got the news Friday afternoon, had to get the dogs into boarding Saturday, and hit the road early Sunday morning.
Today marks mine and Jason’s six month anniversary and I don’t know how I would have made it the past seven months without him. He’s helped me through the loss of three of my grandparents. I got the news about my first grandparent passing away just hours before going into Taylor Swift’s Reputation concert in Atlanta. My other grandmother passed away the Tuesday before Jason and I got married. And now one of my grandfather’s has left us.
I’ve been amazed and in awe of all the love and support pouring out to my family. We had the local Mason lodge hold a ceremony at visitation, an honor guard performed a 21 gun salute, and the volunteer rescue squad sent out a last call and did a fly over at the grave site. All this for one man from a small town in Tennessee, which I see as proof that one person can make all the difference in the world. Even though he has moved on from this life, the ripples he made will continue to positively impact everyone in his life.
May you rest in peace Papa Holt.
